Have you ever been so full of thoughts that you thought you were going to explode? Probably not. Well I am. So I'm going to blog them. Hopefully I'm not the only one that likes to drift off in class pondering them...

Hopefully those pictures give you a little insight into who I am. I'm goofy, I love people and relationships, and I will probably star in a movie at some point in my life (just kidding). Below are some questions that no one has asked me, but I am going to act like they asked me in order to help structure the most awkward and unnaturally written part of my blog.

Where are you in life right now, Cody?

Well Cody, I am in between my sophomore and junior year of college. I am a student at Purdue University in the Department of Sociology. I am also getting a minor in Economics. I am actively involved on campus in a variety of groups, including Campus Crusade for Christ, Timmy Global Health, the Liberal Arts Leadershp Council, the Honors College Mentoring Program, and hopefully the Old Masters program in the fall.

Where do you see yourself in the future?

It's hard to say. I've found that the Lord likes changing up my plans quite often. However, if I were to make the decisions right now, I think I would graduate from Purdue and spend a few years on "stint." Stint is Cru's international missions program. I would like to go to Secret Place or Greece. After returning from that, I would probably choose to go to law school where I would study international law, and then try to get training to become a Foreign Services agent. I would use this skill with a missions org, the government, an NGO, or even in the private sector.

What are some of the items on your bucket list?

My bucket list is actually pretty extensive. I think there are about 30 items on it, and I have only completed five, so I have a ways to go. Some of them are as simple as watching movies for 24 hours straight. Some are  as adventurous as hiking in the Appalachians. Some seem as impossible as getting the Nobel Peace Prize or becoming Secretary of State. Hey, they always tell us to "dream big" right?

How has you faith come to be so important to you?

As I have come to understand Jesus more, my faith has taken a more prominent role in my life. When I say "come to understand," I don't mean that I read more books on him (though I did) or that I grew intellectually (though I did). I Spanish, there are two words for "to know." One is saber, which means to know intellectually- like you know that the sun will set tonight. The other, conocer, means to know on a personal level- like you know your best friend or spouse. Over the past few years, I have come to conocer Jesus more, which has lead to the rapid growth in my faith. I still have a ways to go though.

Why have you chosen to go on a summer project?

Honestly, I used to think summer projects were a terrible idea. Why would you waste a summer, working at McDonalds and selfishly stealing peoples money in order to sit around and have fun with a bunch of college kids? I saw older students coming back from project with very, very, very unreal expectations of the relationships they should now have or the way people should view them. Most of these kids have now fallen off the face of the planet. I though summer project was suicide. This past fall, however, I watched my roommate return from project a completely different person. It's not my story to tell, so if you'd like to hear about it, ask him. I came to understand the evangelistic work still needed here in the States, as well as the long-run benefit of taking a summer to concentrate on your relationship with the Lord. Soon after, I was applying to projects myself.

So. I know that's pretty quick. Hopefully you aren't completely repulsed by me now. Keep praying for my experience in Clearwater!
